You know this is something that I ran across on Facebook and thought that I would see what my children are missing out of their curriculum. Computer science should be a part of any child’s curriculum because it gives them a different outlook on the way that their games, apps, and websites are made up.
Yes! I have a Master’s Degree but decided to give this a try because it was something that I did not know about, and in order to teach the children about coding I have to know what to tell them so if they run into a problem while doing this I will be able to point them in the right direction. Like a mother would do to make sure that they understand the concepts they will learn when they take this course.
I can honestly say that this was a different experience and something that I rather enjoyed learning how to do. Coding is rather simple as long as you put the right commands in the right place so that you get the outcome you are seeking.
Yes! This program is for K-8 however if you do not know anything about coding this is a good place to start along with www.codecademy.com I have to say that in the process of learning these materials it has enlightened my thoughts about coding. The things that you can do with coding to make your website, blog or anything else work the way that you want it to.
Recently I have learned about the webmaster tools through Google, Bing, and Yahoo and how you can use them to your advantage and where you are ranked within the search engines. This opens a wide range of tools at your disposal so that you can keep track of the many issues your website, blog or anything else has.
Maybe, with the things that I have learned and pass onto my children they will want to learn more about coding. Develop their own apps or make something that will be useful to others around the world.
The learning does not stop and learning something new is a step that everyone should take. I love learning and enjoy learning about different things. Being a homeschool parent you have to take the time to learn other things so that you can teach your children what you have learned.
Thanks to www.codecademy.com and www.code.org I will enjoy teaching the children the steps that they need to take and the language that they will use to build their own apps, website or whatever they would like to create.
