What do you like to read?

What do you like to read? Throughout the world people are writing a variety of things. I myself love mysteries, thriller’s, history, literature, and many more. I try to use the information that I learn in some of the posts that I write. I do not care too much for reality because I have enough of that in my life. I appreciate all your answers and would like to Thank you for taking the time to take this poll.

My blog is weird

I know the feeling! People think that I do not have a life, and I do not live my life to the fullest. However, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books, writing about everything that I can. I do not have many friends, and those friends that I do have I do not spend much time talking with them. I have been called a geek! odd! and many other things that I will not mention here. That is their opinion of me and what they see however, they do not see the whole side of me….Thanks for sharing….:)

You guys see a very different side to me in comparison to what many people in my life see. My closest friends know that I am pretty…erm…odd, but my work colleagues and casual acquaintances see “professional Jane.”

Professional Jane likes pencil skirts and blazers. She eats rye crackers and discusses politics with men in suits. She analyses exam results and collates them in the form of pie charts. She attends meetings with colleagues and has an actual clipboard. Sometimes, she ties her hair up with a pencil. Yes, professional Jane is a straight-laced, no-nonsense nine to fiver.

Then there’s “crazy Jane”. Crazy Jane tries to teach her cat how to curtsy (she *almost* has it). She has an inexplicable fear of foam and waltzes with herself. She likes to not stalk her neighbours with binoculars and pretend she’s a French mime artist. She also loves wrestling and tequila (in that…

Who Says Children Do Not Work?

You know I get told all the time that I will not have any luck getting my teenager’s to do any work in the yard, garden, house or anywhere else. Well since we have homeschooled for the last four years I have gotten more work out of my children than I did when they were attending public schools.

I keep telling my children that I will not clean up after them because they are at the age that they can clean up their own messes. My oldest son has done an excellent job on learning how to fix the plumbing in our house with the help of my husband. My daughter has turned out to be quite the cook in the kitchen, and keeping it nice and clean. My youngest teenager does the best job which is avoiding work as much as he can (LOL).

However, he has improved on putting forth the effort when we take his games, television, and other items that he may enjoy away from him. We try to teach them that the world does not revolve around them and that they have to work hard for the things that they want out of life.

We are very protective of our children and we limit the places that they go, people they talk to, and anything else because the only thing that matters in my opinion is that they receive an education. Everything else beyond that is optional. Since we have moved they do not have many friends not because we do not want them to have friends but because they do not need to worry about fitting into the crowd right now.

There is not a shy bone in any of our children and I am sure that they will make friends when they finally make their way into the workforce. However, we do talk to them about choosing the right friends over the wrong friends. I personally, have only a handful of friends because they usually stab you in the back, talk about you when you are not there to stand up for yourself, and use you for what they can.

Some people say that I miss out on many things because I do not have friends. You know what I enjoy spending more time with my family instead of trying to fit in with the crowd. I know that I am a geek, love to learn about new things, and live my life to the fullest with the company of my family. The only ones that will stick up for you when it really comes down to it is your family.

How long does it take you to write a book? Do you have any advice for other writer’s that would like to write a book?

Wabi Sabi Wife

Hello Friends,
Yes, I am writing about another writing book. So sue me. But let me first tell you that I first read this book over ten years ago and I still love it. I am rereading it now because it is soulful and beautiful. If you don’t know about Anne Lamott, you need to know about her. She is gracious and full of grace. She is also full of spit and vinegar, but that is another story. Anne has a lovely way of inviting you into her head without you even realizing there was a door through which you needed to enter. I mean, she just gets it. She is spiritual. She is soulful. She is completely open. She shares the downfalls and the mistakes. She shares the heartbreak and the shame. But all along the telling of her story (meaning, any story she deigns to tell) you are…

Writing a Book

I love to write

Writing & Skirt

I have thought about writing a book especially when I can write around 100,000 words in one year in a journal about all the things that happen in a years time and on a daily basis. I have journal entries from different places that I have worked in and most of the comments are funnier now than they were when I wrote them. It is interesting the things that you find out about people when you just listen to them talking about their lives. I have managed to almost write 20,000 this year from the day to day grind. Like Saturday the children and I have been building a Terrarium and we found two cocoons and one of them hatched Saturday morning. These are the moments that I cherish in my journal writings.

The process of writing the book is almost in the editing stage. Almost a year of writing gives you a feeling of accomplishment. She has written over 100,000 words thus year alone including writings from last year, and her notebooks lying around the house in different places. Of course, everyone wants to know what is written in those entries. Only time will tell as she embarks in the world if finding out the true meaning of editing.

Taking Business into your Own Hands

Many people just go to work because they have to. Finding the right employer takes time and energy. The business world portrayed in the textbooks allows much to desire in the real world. Companies now have the choice on which candidate would make the best employee within their company. However, throughout the business world places such as restaurants only have a handful of women working in the upper management. If someone were to work for a company for 17 years and not move up in within the company that means they more than likely do not like the competition of skills that person has. More and more students face the problems of student loans after graduating with their degree.
Your whole life people tell you that having an education means better jobs, and better pay. However, after going through college and finding that right job takes some time. Some people get lucky and find that right job after college and other’s it takes a little longer. Depending on the type of surroundings finding the right job can turn into a job in itself. Living in a small town makes it harder to find a decent-paying job unless you become a teacher, lawyer, doctor, or anything else within these fields. Furthermore, the steps you have to take to start your own business. You practically have to have tons of money already to begin to start your own business.
Sometimes taking the process into your own hands can lead to other wonderful opportunities that await your skills, and knowledge. Something that many people do not hear from their employer’s pertains to the job that they do for the employer. Saying things like Great Job! You do not hear well done, or keep up the good work. In addition, other praises will make the employee unmotivated and unsecure in their job.
Many times employer’s make fun of their employees and disgrace them. Hearing things, as employee is being worthless, and always making mistakes. It is quite amazing that people put up with this type of stuff from the employers. When do people say I have had enough of hearing the word no and being put down all the time? In obtaining eight years of college, I have found that most of the subjects taught do not align with the real world. I have worked for many companies and most of them I would not waste my time with ever again.
I have made it my mission to make the best of the education that I have obtained in doing something that I love to do and that is to write articles. I have so far had some success with the articles that I have written so far and I am looking forward to a rewarding experience. It may take some time nevertheless; I will make this dream a reality just like everything else that I have done within my life. I sit here on my days off writing and homeschooling my children and that in itself was a rewarding decision on my part. I never imagined that my blog about some of the questions and essays done in college would receive as many hits as it has right now.
What a milestone in your life to say that your children can look back on and read some of the things that you have done in college on the internet. I am searching for a writing job that will allow me to stay home with my wonderful family. In April, I began working with some of the contractors on Odesk.com. It is a wonderful experience because I am able to write on a variety of topics throughout the course of the day. I would love to see my career take off in the writing world, which would allow me to spend more time with the people that I love. This will help sharpen my skills as a writer.
