Do You Have What it Takes To Be a Part of Our Team?

Although this article is good, I would have to say that these are questions that many companies ask potential employee’s that would want to work for their company. Of course, I am interested in the company or I would not have accepted the interview. So in answer to the three main questions:

Do you have the skills? Let us see here I went to college managed to graduate all three degree’s with a 3.0 or better. I have worked in numerous positions management wise. I have raised three children while attending college. (I know many people do this nowadays). However, after obtaining three degrees in Business Management and Business Administration that is not enough to obtain a job. Because I do not have experience in that field means that they will not give the job to me because they will pick the person who has experience in that field. How do you obtain the experience in that field? Well first, you have to meet someone that is willing to take a chance and give you the opportunity to obtain the experience for that field. That is hard to come by these days!

Are you enthusiastic? I go to work every day because that is what I have to do. Do I like my job? Yes! People that I work with love me because I work and I do my job. Do I motivate others? Yes! I love my job because of the customer’s that is why we are in business. The customer’s is what makes the company money. When they come into your company, establishment or business they are coming in to spend their money that they have worked hard for in return they want great customer service for the tangible or intangible items that you have with your business.

Will you fit into the team? Well you know because I have a great personality I believe that I fit into any type of team. I am what people would call a geek! I know this is on the internet however, I am who I am, and there is nothing that is going to change that. I love to learn new things. I am a leader not a follower I try to do any job with the intentions to get it done without regards to anyone else on the team. You have to work together to get something accomplished. This type of question can mean several different things if you stop and think about it. It could mean are you willing to spend an excessive amount of money and live above your means, take expensive vacations, buy the most expensive car or anything else. In my opinion, you have to be a leader and make sure that the people around you know that you are a leader.

You know for the last seven years I have been told that I have too much education, I do not have enough skills or knowledge, I am over qualified for every job that I apply for, and most of all the moment they find out I am homeschooling puts a big damper on finding the right job. I show up to work on time, I never call out, and when my schedule is changed well that is all part of it. Being in business means that you have to go beyond without regards to how it affects your life. You have to be willing to work countless hours to make sure that your employee’s are doing the job that they are required to do.

So the main question I have towards companies is what can your company do for me? Is there going to be continual learning in how your company works? I have given you a preview of what I can offer and there is more than what I have written here.

The Many Reasons Why I Went to College

One of the main reasons that I went to college was to further my career. When I was younger I did not like school because of several different reasons. However, when I completed my Associates degree in Business Management things changed. I understood that for you to get a better job you needed not only the experience but the education to go along with that. Of course, the first few months of starting college were challenging to say the least. Working full-time, raising children, and making sure that you completed all the course work that you needed to complete the courses. It was a task but somehow I managed to make it through the first two years of college with a 3.10 GPA. How exciting it was to finally achieve something.

After completing the associate’s degree I decided that I would go a little further and work on a Bachelor’s degree because I wanted to prove to my children that they can do anything that they put their mind to doing. Our children need to understand that they have options in this world. I remember a letter that my daughter wrote when she attended public school and one of the questions was “Who are you proud of?” My daughter wrote that she was proud of her mommy for getting her education and graduating college. You just do not understand how emotional that was to read. The impact you make on your children is something that will last with you for the rest of your life. Knowing that I have influenced my children into making the right decisions about their future has made me a very proud parent.

As the pursuit of the bachelor’s degree came into effect and taking only one class every six weeks made things a little easier. The best part of college was learning  new things and making the best grades. I managed to make it through another two years of college while working full-time. Some people would ask me how I managed doing all that I do. It is simple when it is something that you want to do you will work hard to make it a reality. Getting a college education was something that I wanted to do so I excelled in college. Towards the end of the bachelor’s degree I thought about where I wanted to go next. When the final classes were approaching my advisor’s were calling to see what I wanted to do next. After graduating with a 3.02 GPA I decided that the next step would involve more college. You know sometimes you feel like your college education is not worth the hassle because of the limited amount of experience you have within the workforce. Sometimes you can fall into a depressed state because you feel like your education is holding you back.

Most companies that you apply at usually tell you that you have too much experience and that you will not work for the amount that they are willing to pay. Other companies tell you that you do not have enough experience for the job at hand. The whole point of going to college is to obtain the education and then find a job where you can obtain the experience. While looking through the classifieds I see very few jobs and all required five to ten years of experience in that field. However, one cannot obtain the experience without the company taking a chance and allowing them to obtain the experience that they need for that position.

Still in spite of achieving goals that I have set for myself on the pursuit to obtain a better education I decided to go along and enroll into a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Small Business. Eventually, one day I would like to have my own business and have something that I can leave to my children when I leave this world. Upon entering into the Master’s Degree you had to keep your GPA above a 3.0. Of course, for some people this is hard to do and towards the end of the Master’s program it was an issue for me however, I had to put it in my mind that my education is the key to my success within the business world. After everything that I have went through with the years of going to college my master’s was the biggest challenge I faced in the whole time of going to college. If I had it to do all over again I would in a second because it was an awesome achievement. I graduated in 2012 with a 3.05 and it was the biggest achievement that I have had throughout the years.

I have watched many people that start college and end up quitting because they do not have the time to party or go out with their friends. I on the other hand want more out of my life than to work all my life for someone else. I had the pleasure of going to college with some fabulous people and shared in some awesome discussions from every topic you can think of throughout your college courses. I have even written about some of the things that I do at my current job in the essays that I had to write for different business classes. I also had the pleasure of having some great professor’s that helped you understand the information that was given in class.

Now, after graduating it is time to put my career in full motion and work towards achieving the goals of gaining the experiences needed to further my career. Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait. I know that all the hard work that I have put into my education will pay off in the end.

So here’s to the future and for those who think that college is a waste of time you need to rethink your thoughts and find out where you want to be five years or even ten years from now.

Why We Love College (and You Should Too!)

I know that I have put a lot of time and effort into graduating college with a MBA and I know that one day I will get the job that I went to college for.

beers boys and books

At times you can feel stuck, like you’re paying all this money and putting in all this effort and time for a piece of paper. A piece of paper that means what you will be doing for the rest of your life. That can be a little intimidating. Okay, it can be down right scary. Because how do you know that you’re in the right major? How do you know that you’re even at the right school? When we were kids, we believed we could be anything we wanted. An astronaut, a princess, maybe even a singer (not me LOL). But then we graduated high school and landed in college and the reality of life set in and we soon realized we couldn’t be everything we always wanted. Sometimes we have to settle for a variation of that. But this is life, and you never know what’s coming next, and…
