You know this is true. Our whole life can be written down into a story or blog. Writing down our thoughts, and opinions about the people that we meet on a daily basis. The things that we do with our family or anything else in the world. Everyone has an opinion and voicing those opinions may help other’s get through some of the same problems that we have experienced at one point in our life.

Writing takes imagination, and thoughts throughout your life you have obstacles, and other issues that may arise and disrupt your thought patterns. Eventually, things work themselves out and you are back in the habit of writing about the things in your life. Making sure that you keep the reader’s interest with the information that you post on your blog. You do not want to be too open about things in your life however, some of the funniest things that have happened in your life can be part of a wonderful post. Maybe you have learned something from someone that you work with. Maybe, you have learned something from the customer’s that you serve on a daily basis.

Target Markets

What are target markets? How would you determine the target markets for your new product or service? What are the advantages of developing specific market targets for a small business?

What are target markets? Target markets are specific populations that organizations seek to attract to their product. A specific type of market that they assume will purchase their product. In order to do this the business must first evaluate the market segments based on how these things substantial, accessible, actionable, differentiable, and measurable the markets are within the area. If I were selling a product I would have to determine whether or not it was too large or too small to effectively gain the traction needed within that market. As the owner of this product I would have to have access to the market and physically be able to sell the product within that market. We would have to think about the cost of the product and how much it would cost to market in that area. Some areas of the market are costly. Some of the advantages of developing specific market targets for a small business would include a strong reputation that serves their customer’s . You also have to find that niche within the market that attracts the customer’s to your doorstep and then you have to keep them interested in the product and show them how it will benefit your customer.

Time Value of Money

Why is the time value of money concept important? In what quantitative decisions might the time value of money be used?

In business the time value of money is very important because it allows business’s to determine how much an investment will increase in value over a determined amount of time. The way that the stock market, and how the government is going these days many people are putting their money that they earn into 401k’s or IRA’s which over a period of time will calculate the value of their investment. There is a variety of investment tools that are out there to help people with investing their money in any time of investment. Many people choose the high interest rate that normally pays off in the long run if the investment is not touched. Many people have decisions to make regarding different positions within their life. Student loans, and financing a home use the time value of money. The interest rates have dropped since the financial meltdown. Many students have ended up with the lower interest rates. You have to have a clear understanding of the time value of money are able to better analyze the risks that are involved with the investments, and can make the money work for them instead of against them. This is something that I wish I understood a little better so that I can make the money work better for me instead of against me. Most companies use the time value of money to compare their investment alternatives in regards to profits, and earnings. These companies also use time value of money with leases, annuities, savings, mortgages, and loans. In order to make the right decisions for the company time value of money should be the top priority for any business to make solid financial decisions.

Marketing

Within any business there are five stages in which a new product is adopted awareness of the product the consumer must be aware of the product that the business is marketing. Interest in the product the consumer must have an interest in the product for them to buy it. Evaluation some businesses will use this to let the consumer evaluate the product to see if it meets their approval. Trial is when the product will reach the shelves of the small business to see how well the product will sell. The last stage is the adoption of the new product onto the small business shelves. Consumer’s will not purchase products that do not meet their needs of that product. I know from experience that many of the products that I have used have not met the standards that they should because of the rush to get them on the store shelves. In my opinion the consumer will adopt and use the product or service from the time that they buy the product. Some consumer’s will wait for the product to get out all of the kinks so that the product produces more than the first batch of the product.

Marketing Plan

By having an effective marketing plan that is influenced by the customer’s and the wants or needs of those customer’s. The importance of customer feedback is something that is very important to any and all business’s. To get the right feedback about the products or services that are offered within that business. Designing products are made with the consumer in mind because the product is what the customer is asking for. Marketing the product or service will influence the consumer to buy the product and that is what the business is shooting for. The consumer’s have to have faith in the products that they buy or they will not purchase them. If the product or service does not meet the consumer’s needs they will find it somewhere else. Positioning the product is another important factor that must be taken into consideration in order to maximize the profit of those products or services. Once the target market and motives are identified the effective marketing plan can influence the consumer’s that purchase the products or services. Earning the customer’s trust is the key issue when building a solid foundation of products or services that are offered to the consumer. Without an effective marketing plan the product or service could not be profitable to the company.

Mission, Vision, Values, and Environmental Scanning

By describing, the three critical components of environmental scanning that would apply to the business that I have chosen which would be an organic aqua-phonics greenhouse. Within this paper, I will discuss the purpose of the business clearly and succinctly. I will discuss three of the critical components that would apply to Ponder Hill Enterprise’s. The only stakeholder’s are the owner’s Tammy and David where Tammy takes care of the paperwork, and other business related items. David takes care of the daily maintenance of the Enterprise. Therefore, by making sure that everything is in running order for the business. The external components of the business would include the vendors, consumer’s, suppliers, or anyone else that the business has within their company.
In defining environmental scanning this is the acquisition and use of information about the current events, trends, and relationships within the business’s external environment. A company mission statement is what separates them from other company’s like them and helps to identify the scope of the business operations. The mission statement clearly states the business’s product, market, and technological areas that will emphasis the way the company reflects on values, and priorities of the strategic decision makers within the business. There are implications to everything that is done within the business therefore, there would be needs to attend to if the company or business is not profiting or standing up to their mission statement. This would indicate that the mission statement of the company would need to be looked at. In this day and time the sustainability, that defines your business and goals within the market place. As a business owner, she will have to make the decisions about the business and everyday operations. Creating the mission statement for your business needs to be looked at or memorized and the owner should always stick to the promises they make to consumers. By looking at the long-term objectives, of Ponder Hill Enterprises that I would like to build within the next few years. The owner would need to consider the following: return on investment, competitive positioning of the product, technological leadership within the business, profitability, and other objectives as well. According to Pearce & Robinson (2004), the thorniest issues faced in defining a company mission are those that pertain to responsibility.

Mission Statement
The mission of Ponder Hill Enterprises is to provide eco-friendly ways to cut back on pollution and save money in the process. To provide fresh produce all organic with no chemicals of any kind.

Vision Statement
Our company’s vision statement is to become the America’s leading consumer company for organically fresh foods.

Values Statement
Ponder Hill Enterprise’s values statement is to be driven by the creativity, resourcefulness, focus, and entrepreneurial spirit to have the support of the consumer’s. To have an inspired and diverse team that respects the contribution from everyone within the company. To ensure the health and safety of our people surrounding are paramount. Ponder Hill Enterprise’s will prove to be a leader in their responsibility for the environment. That the integrity of the company is never compromised and that they make a positive contribution to the society.

Social Responsibility

All business’s have a social responsibility to their employee, executives, Board of Director’s, and stockholder’s. The business is also held accounted for the customer’s, suppliers, creditors, governments, unions, competitors, and the public as well. Everything that is done within the world today has channels to run through. An excellent example for this would be the company that I am working for now. Ruby Tuesday’s is known to be a bar and grill where customer’s can come to have a good time and enjoy their dinner or watch the games that happen to be playing that day. Ruby Tuesday’s is coming up to the gaming season but in the process they have made some changes to what type of image they want to set. Furthermore, if the company did not set standards they would not make a profit and would not keep customers if they do not live up to the promise that they make to the customers. Today I was serving an older couple and before they left, the woman said that she was very pleased with her experience with us today. She said that it was nice to go out and have a nice dining experience instead of the fast food. The whole point of being in business is to make an impact on the customer’s that come into your establishment. Finding out what your customers like and dislike is a great tool to understanding what they expect when shopping in your business. The mission statement of a company shows the customers that they are ready and willing to make them happy no matter what. “Social responsibility is a critical consideration for a company’s strategic decision makers since the mission statement must express how the company intends to contribute to the societies that sustain it” (Pearce & Robinson, 2004).

Where Has America Gone?

Amen! You know just about everything that you see on television has something or all of these things in the outlining of their message to the consumer’s. What is the world coming to? I do not understand the way people think about the world that we live in. They think that everything is fine and this is what our children are learning about. This is why I restrict television in my home because my children do not need to see some of these things that they show on television. They need to know the important things and nothing else.

It seems one can hardly watch television anymore without the bombardment of profanity, sexual content, violence, and wizardry of some sort –and that’s just the commercials! Fifty years ago such immoral content would have been considered too scandalous to be aired on live TV! Yet, today, such programs are not only watched, but promoted and encouraged. Where has America gone?!

Generic and Grand Strategies

Donate Button with Credit Cards

Thank you all for your support.

Generic strategies require specific skills, organizational arrangements, and resources in order for a successful implementation for the business. Starting a business requires  a lot of research, and examples along with notes. Small businesses are looking to keep the costs low but also keeping the quality of the products in tacked for the customer. Even for a aqua phonics greenhouse there is countless research materials that have to be looked at to determine if the business can survive with these types of strategies. Low cost and differentiation  are what businesses are looking for when they think about generic and grand strategies. Generic strategy models are perhaps the most prevalent conceptual approach to competitive strategy today (Porter 1980, 1985; Miles and Snow 1978; Miller 1986).

Grand strategies is a strategy that provides a basic direction for the specific strategic and functional tactics of the business. Some of the grand strategies are used so that the business can reinforce each other. These grand strategies are also called strategic thrusts companies can address quality, price of the products, and they need to value the customer’s regarding issues that they might incur. Grand strategies concentrate on increasing sales of the current products or services that they offer with the current distribution channels that they have in place for their business. If the economy or environment is unstable this would increase the risks for that business. An example of a business that uses the grand strategy would be McDonald’s. when it comes to marketing business’s will market the current products or services that they offer by changing the advertising or promotions that they offer their customer’s. With the example of McDonalds they send out coupons to all residences that offer some of their products to the consumer at a discounted price or some buy one get one free to entice the customer to come in and spend their money. Listening to the customer’s and what they want or need from your business is the key to having a successful business.

Competitive Advantage

Within this paper, I will elaborate on the strengths of the aquaponic greenhouse business to make the business a success, by addressing the actions the business will take to recover from the weaknesses that the business will encounter. By describing the ways that the business can take with the current opportunities and create more opportunities for the business to grow, and identify threats and the plan for monitoring these threats within the business. Furthermore, I will discuss the way flexibility plays a role in business.

The outlining strategies that will be essential to gain and sustain a competitive advantage in the aquaponic greenhouse would include value where I would evaluate the resources and capabilities of the business. The value of Ponder Hill Aquaponic Greenhouse business will provide value to the changing trends concerning customers. In describing rarity within the aquaponic greenhouse is to have a different variety of products which are not the same as the leading competitor’s within the area. However, in discussing imitability that consists of imitating another business that has the same products or strategies in place to see if they will be compatible with the strategic plans that the business has put in place for the business.

In discussing the strengths of the aquaponic systems by building  in a location that would be beneficial to the business so that customers would be able to access the products of the business. Picking the right location for the business is something that will determine the strength of the business. If a customer does  not have access to your business they are not going to spend  money within your establishment. Being accessible and easy to find is one strength that this business will have because the business will not be that hard to find. If you are not in the right location the customers are not going to find the business.

Some of the actions that will be taken  to address the weaknesses of the aquaponic greenhouse business is to understand how the system works within the community by learning what I can about the business before diving right into it. For example, a friend who I know has already started working on his  investment of building an aquaponic greenhouse, and  it is not going so well at this point in the project. Learning about the different types of strategies and competitive advantages that the business would have can provide some interesting facts about the business and whether or not it will be a success. Another weakness that will have to overcome would be the financial end of the business. Acquiring the finances to put into the business takes time to collect and starting out without the help of investor’s, or loans. Working  by overcoming the obstacles and having a plan in place will allow the business to be a success.

In describing ways to take advantage of the current opportunities is to provide consumer’s the choice of buying organic produce, and is environmentally safe for consumption. Opportunities may arise when the products and services can be offered in different locations or at different times. Some of the opportunities may arise unexpectedly, and some may be anticipated. In finding opportunities that will provide the business with a chance to improve the performance  and the competitive advantage

Furthermore, Some of the threats that would be harmful to the business is an electrical failure, or pipe blockage that could result in a complete loss of all fish within the business. This would also result in spending more money on replenishing the fish that was lost. The aquaponic greenhouse can have multiple single points of failure that would result in the business being unsuccessful so addressing these risks or threats upon surfacing would be beneficial to the business and their success. One way to avoid this is to have a backup generator just in case there was an electrical failure, and to ensure that the pipes are flowing smoothly throughout the greenhouse.

In conclusion, by evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats will help understand how the aquaponic greenhouse can sustain a competitive advantage over the competitor’s in the surrounding area. By offering fresh organic produce to the consumer’s, with easy access to the products and services that Ponder Hill Enterprises offers to the customer. Furthermore, this paper elaborated on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and flexibility of the business. Identified a potential risk and the role that it plays within the strategy that is in place.
